Wordless Wednesday - The Miamisburg Mound
The Miamisburg Mound; the highest and largest of the conical mounds found in Ohio.
It's only about 20 minutes from my home, but I had never seen it until two years ago. The view from the top is really pretty. We have visited the Eaton Adena Mound and the small mounds at the Wright Brothers Monument. I really want to head down to Adams County to see Serpent Mound sometime soon. I figure I can get some Shoemaker history research done at the same time!
Perfect for Wordless on your side, but it leaves us with a desire to say a lot of words. Very interesting topic, I am sure. It makes me want to google it someday.
I'm from Ohio and have yet to visit this site. Thanks for your post. Maybe this summer.

ReplyDeleteVery interesting. I think of this kind of feature maybe being in the U.K., but not the U.S.! How cool.
ReplyDeleteThis photo reminds me of the huge mound at Waterloo in Belgium. I'll have to dig my photo's out for next week and you can see it.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how we travel miles ans miles to see historical sites, but tend to ignore the ones closest to us.
